November 17, 2025 – Downtown Bellefontaine has a new story to tell. The Next Chapter Bookstore, a locally owned and family-operated shop specializing in used books, has officially opened its doors inside the Main Street Marketplace at 130 S. Main Street, Suite B103.
Founded by longtime book lover Lisa Yoder, The Next Chapter brings an affordable, community-centered approach to reading and book collecting. The store features a wide selection of used books in all genres, along with book-themed accessories. Future plans include the possibility of adding new releases based on community interest.
“I have always loved reading, and I’ve seen so many people on social media asking for a bookstore downtown,” said Yoder. “I just figured, why not?!”
A true family effort, the shop is managed by Yoder with help from her daughter, Amanda Keels, who oversees social media and marketing, and grandson Bryce Keels, who handles IT and behind-the-scenes efforts. Together, they’re creating a welcoming space for readers of all ages to explore new stories and connect with fellow book enthusiasts.
“The Main Street Marketplace has become a launchpad for new local entrepreneurs, and The Next Chapter is a perfect example of that,” said Keyne Strickland, Leasing and Property Manager for Small Nation. “Lisa’s vision fills a gap our community has been asking for – an independent bookstore that celebrates reading, family, and connection right in the heart of downtown.”
The bookstore joins anchor retailer Rustic Boutique, salon and spa Undertone on Main, and popular breakfast & brunch spot The Morning Riot in the Marketplace community, and sits next to Decode Zone Escape Room downstairs in the building.
The Next Chapter Bookstore is now open and welcoming visitors. For hours and more information, follow The Next Chapter Bookstore on Facebook, or contact the store at 937-407-6565 or TheNextChapterBookstoreOhio@gmail.com.
