October 15, 2026 – When a pipe bursts, a drain backs up or a plumbing problem suddenly appears, waiting until Monday morning isn’t always an option. That’s exactly the kind of problem that inspired Meg Hyden to start Bradford Plumbing & Drain LLC, a new woman-owned business now open in Downtown Bellefontaine.
Bradford Plumbing & Drain opened in recently at 130 S. Main St., Suite B107, bringing 24-hour plumbing response and a customer-first approach to Bellefontaine and the surrounding community.
For Hyden, the path to owning a plumbing company wasn’t necessarily an obvious one. Years spent working in the insurance industry gave her an up-close look at what happens when something goes wrong in a home or business. While helping people rebuild and repair their properties, she developed a talent for matching problems with the right people to solve them.
Again and again, she heard from friends and clients that finding reliable plumbing help – especially when they needed it quickly – was one of their biggest challenges. She saw a need she knew she could help fill.
By tapping into a network of skilled technicians, Hyden developed a business plan centered around providing responsive service when customers need it most. The result was Bradford Plumbing & Drain, with a goal of being available 24 hours a day for plumbing problems big and small.
And while plumbing may traditionally be viewed as a male-dominated industry, being a woman in the industry brings a perspective of its own.
“Who spends more time in the kitchen and bathroom than women? We’re generally the first one in the family to know there’s a problem,” Hyden said. “I don’t know how to fix it either, but I know somebody who can.”
From clogged drains and leaky pipes to low water pressure and other plumbing needs, Bradford Plumbing & Drain focuses on pairing quality workmanship with customer service. The company uses up-to-date equipment and quality materials, while keeping its fees competitive and communication with customers respectful and straightforward.
For Meg, building the business isn’t simply about completing the next service call. It’s about creating relationships customers want to return to – and recommend to others.
“Our primary focus is customer service and satisfaction,” Hyden said. “Our goal is retention and referrals. We strive to maintain relationships. Reputation is everything to us.”
That commitment extends beyond customers’ homes and businesses. Bradford Plumbing & Drain plans to be an active part of the community and is already coordinating with the Logan County Chamber of Commerce on opportunities to participate in and volunteer at local events.
“One of the things we love most is seeing entrepreneurs recognize a need and have the courage to build something to meet it,” said Keyne Strickland, Leasing and Property Manager for Small Nation. “That’s exactly what Meg has done with Bradford Plumbing & Drain. She’s bringing a much-needed service to the community, but she’s also building the business around relationships, reputation and being there when people need help most. We’re thrilled to have her as part of Downtown Bellefontaine.”

Bradford Plumbing & Drain is now open at 130 S. Main St., Suite B107 in Downtown Bellefontaine.
